Span the Distance
Words fail, falter,
leaving a loving silence in its wake.
She takes my gaze in hers,
her eyes unchartable seas
that seize me and leave me
helplessly lost, lost beyond want
of being found;
if I were to spend eternity
in those eyes, I would be satisfied.
An unseen force
forces my lips toward hers, and
we draw closer-
but I stop, sigh, my head sinks.
Try though we might,
it’s impossible to kiss through a screen.
FaceTime can’t solve everything.
