1, noun. A restraint upon activity, communication, or transport designed to prevent the spread of disease. As in, the Olympics are postponed because of the coronavirus. Ralph’s is only allowing 25 customers in at once. Do not commute unless it is essential. Cruise lines, flights, and public transportation are grinding to a standstill. Expect commercial travel to be severely restricted until the quarantine is lifted.
2, noun. A designated location in which contaminated persons are detained. As in, the hospital is no longer a viable option to quarantine those that contracted the coronavirus. Our quarantine facilities are overrun. If you think you are sick, quarantine yourself and call a healthcare provider, though you may be put on hold, as we are understaffed and overworked to the point of breaking.
3, noun. A state of enforced isolation. As in, the Stay At Home Order is effective until April 19. Longer if it becomes necessary. Practice social distancing and isolation. Quarantine yourself to protect you and others from contracting the coronavirus. To maintain quarantine, do not gather in groups larger than five, and do not gather in public. Remain at least six feet away from those that you encounter in public. You will be charged a fine if you violate quarantine.
