COVID-19
Tradition is asserted once again
as people stay at home with family
to make an effort to reduce pandem-
-ic symptoms sweeping air and land and sea.
Since food is scarce, and rationing is wise,
and people turn their prayers to staying well,
it feels as though we’re in medieval times:
fearful of the plague and earthly hell.
But we are living in a modern sphere,
connected, thanks to phones and tablet screens,
and scientists are competent and near
to breakthroughs that will give us a vaccine.
These are dark days, akin to those of yore,
but persevere. We always have before.
