Asymptomatic
Not to be overly political,
but I think there are too many people
that don’t know what asymptomatic means.
Asymptomatic
\ˌā-ˌsim(p)-tə-ˈma-tik\
(of a disease or other medical condition) presenting no symptoms or evidence of illness or abnormality: Some people that are infected with COVID-19 are asymptomatic for up to two weeks, or may never develop symptoms at all.
(of a person with a disease or other medical condition) experiencing no symptoms or evidence of illness or abnormality: These people, regardless of if they show symptoms or are asymptomatic, CAN STILL SPREAD THE VIRUS.
You could be an asymptomatic carrier.
So could I. An easy preventative
is WEARING A MASK.
Some people refuse to fathom this.
Wearing a mask has scientifically shown
to reduce the amount of particulate matter
that leaves you and contacts others around you.
You may feel fine, and show no symptoms.
and yet still be a carrier of a virus
that has killed over SIX HUNDRED THOUSAND
people to date.
Here’s an argument some anti-maskers use:
“Without a doubt our constitutional rights have been violated. Some argue that we have a “responsibility” to immuno-compromised citizens when we are faced with a pandemic. However, this is not a clause in the Constitution. We need to fight back.”
Oh, really? Sure. It’s not in the Constitution,
it’s not spelled out in black and white
that we have a responsibility to immuno-compromised citizens when we are faced with a pandemic.
Let’s play along with that argument, then.
We do NOT have a RESPONSIBILITY to [X endangered people group] in [Y circumstance that threatens them].
We do not have a responsibility to immuno-compromised citizens when faced with a pandemic.
Or,
We do not have a responsibility to minorities when they are persecuted or endure disproportionate abuse.
Or,
We do not have a responsibility to children at the crosswalk when we are driving. (After all, there is nothing in the Constitution telling us to look for children when we drive.)
It’s not in the Constitution that we have a responsibility to immuno-compromized individuals during a global pandemic
because our responsibility to one another
IS NOT A LAW.
It’s common sense.
It’s a moral imperative.
It’s a HUMAN RIGHT.
Being told to wear a mask
is not a violation of our freedoms.
It’s a reminder to act human.
Refusing to wear a mask
makes you a murderer.
